I've been asked about feeding a heavy manilla stock through our 7570K. After doing some research and consulting with our sales/tech guru, I've specified 'not recommended, but doable', so long as we use the paper feed tray for 24x36 sheets and the rear paper exit.
The question is, "How heavy"? The heaviest manilla stock rates around a 55-60lb Bond, but KIP specs are up to 24lb Bond. I also see a company that lists 40lb Bond latex-infused 'poster paper' as 'KIP friendly'. Has anyone ever seen a ~40lb craft paper or bristol-board type stock run straight through before? What were the results? |

Hey Troy, If you look at the latest KIP Media guide, page 4 is the application specs. The only machines that are tested to run any media over 20# are the color machines. The paper transport and image transfer on the color machines are designed for multiple media weights. The black & white machines are not intended for heavy wieght media. |

It would be hard to tell, but I noticed that about the colour machines, too. I think they decided to outsource that printing, as I haven't heard anything about it from them since... |
