Believe it or not, we are actually still xerox dealers. We can still purchase many parts for 6204's from Xerox but even in normal operation, those machines don't need much in the way of repairs.

Because of changes at Xerox, we as many dealers have switched our main focus to KIP and HP but we still have quite a few customers with the amazingly reliable 6204.

If you need assistance with your Xerox 6204 in 2020 we are here to help. Don't chuck out your 6204 just because of a minor issue that may be keeping you from printing. Please contact me first and I may be able to help you save your 6204 from the scrap heap. Never thought I would even see that sentence.

I used to pick up the proper series Dell optiplex pcs for free from our local recycling center and transfer the licensing to it but then I would run into the issue where the main boards were all the same vintage with the poor "samwa" 2200UF 16v capacitors that would just fail on the replacement board. So thenI would just carry a bag of these capacitors I bought on ebay and swap them out at the customers site with these better quality caps which wont fail again... no reloading of software or keys to move. the 1000uf caps would fail the same way in the power supplies but it was often easier to swap power supplies. BTW I have repaired a number of kip main boards the same way.

The 6204 machines are great machines and parts and tech support are still available if your a xerox dealer. After working on them since 1997 when I started with charrette, last year was the last official xerox call for me since my employer dropped engineering equipment after also focusing on hp and kip with mixed results.
