I hate it when sales sells ONE of something. Most of my Kips are just printers, no scanners.
7170, Customer complains that color shaded areas in scans

When I use the shading sheet, going into the program, using the tool, it will error out, but according to the TIP-K134k-007b, I'm not getting any indication of the error. All the LED's come on correctly. One of the white reference rollers was a little stained, got all of them cleaned off, the glass from the image sensors is clean, I don't see any fog on the LED strips, but I can't clean up the image scans.

Z218500020 CORRECTION CHART

Z298500082 SHADING SHEET

Are you using these sheets? I know you're not a rookie but sometimes the sheets all look the same

WHOOPS! I think I found it....I had the correction sheet, instead of the
SHADING sheet.... Wink

Hate the "one off" machines I only see about once every 6-9 months Wink
The Kip 970, which doesn't have a scanner, so I never get to mess with a scanner.

Well, the drama continues. I still cannot get this scanner going.
When I scan the correction sheet, errors. I thought what the heck,
tried the black brightness correction, it passed, had 2 red cells, did
the adjustment per the TIP-K134K-007b and it passed. No change.
Think I have a wacked scanner board?

Since the calibration stays in the scanner I'd say that would be worth a try. Could be one of the CIS units but I'd start with the board.

If the machine is running the most current software and firmware when you do the scanner calibration and it fails it will tell you what CIS is causing the issue. There is a TB regarding this

I replaced the #4 scanner, since that one had the flashing red when I tried to do the shading. It didn't fix the shading error, but did fix the color problem.
So since this stupid thing is under warranty, I ordered the other CIS units.
Still has shading issues.
Found the scanner firmware shows 1.03 & hardware firmware 10.01A
Downloaded the latest from KIP, and when I try to update it, I get a "Rom type hardware checksum error".

Now granted, I'm a newbie with KIP, but WTH?
