I'm hoping someone could give me some insight on the error code 5502.
Also, the prints right now are pretty much a muddy black mess.
Thank you! |

Low Toner Level in the Developer Mixture.
Points to one of three things.
1) Developer Concentration Sensor
2) Developer
3) CPU Board
If I were to guess since you say prints are a mess that the Developer Toner Mix is polluted with too much toner and the machine thinks it needs to keep adding it to the developer.
I would say the Developer Concentration Sensor but you would have to test it to be sure.
If it is bad you would need to buy the Sensor and Developer and you will have to perform the New Developer Procedure.
Usually OCE would replace the Drum when the Developer needs changed. That's up to you.
But you need to diagnose first before throwing parts at it. _________________ "The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten." - Benjamin Franklin and John Ruskin

There is not enough developer in the developing unit.
But you have to check the charge corona unit first before replacing the developer. It could be that the corona wire of charging unit is broken or the blocks of charging unit is burnt that is why you are getting black prints and it messed up the developer/toner concentration. |

Thanks so much for the feedback! It has since now given me error code 5501, and then just sat for a while conditioning until I turned it off as it seemed like it was never going to stop conditioning.
I'm calling a tech on Monday, I'm just hoping it doesn't cost a fortune. I bought the machine used and use it at home for my own art work.
Thanks again for the help! |
