When this machine was new (16 months now, 700k sq feet), the customer started running banners. Some on film, mostly plain 36" wide paper, 6-8' long. I turned off the long print margins, telling them that I don't know how well it will work, book says it needs it. It worked fine, no issues with registration, lines etc.
Well, 16 months later, they called me for lines & colors not matching up.
Magenta, cyan, yellow, from about 16" from lead edge, to about 1/2 the length were not registered properly. Once long print margins were enabled, the problem went away.
The question is, what's changed that it's not working now?
I double checked the fuser gears, transport belt assembly, fuser tension & paper tension sensor voltages. Nothing has been altered in the BUD's values.
Other than the software update when it was new, nothing has been modified.
It worked for over a year with long margins disabled, now it needs it turned on to keep the registration on 6-8 foot banners.
