Had a call yesterday for a 3000 that was printing light, almost blank. I did all the wires and cleaned the printhead. No change. Re-seat developer unit, no change. Removed it and checked, it seems to be in a bind. I went back to shop and got another dev. unit and swapped it out. No change, still blank print.

The gear assy. that moves up/down when the clam shell is opened had a small screw stuck in it. Removed the screwed, but still blank prints.

Turns out the screw had came out the gear that actually drives the dev. unit. The gear is part Z053100540. The entire developer drive was turning but the gear was just spinning on the shaft and not turning the developer unit.

I am thinking that the original dev. unit might have locked up and somehow let the gear spin on the shaft and knocked the screw out. Also this is not a keyed or indexed type fit. It is just a round shaft, round gear fit with a single set screw.

Maybe this has been posted before, but thought I would share it.
