Hello folks,
We will be getting another 7970 in the next few weeks for our production department as a walk up easy 1,2,3, waiter solution. Where we will install it is a fair distance from the actual 208 volt outlet. Has anyone installed a 7970 with an extension cord? Of course the cord would be of proper gauge and all!

Any problems anyone has encountered? Fuser temp issues etc...

We currently run a Kip 8000 on an extension but with a Buck/Boost in line and never had any issue!

Thanks,
Lead Guitarist

I don't have any of that model but last year I had a new install that needed a 25 ft extension cord to reach the outlet, temporary of course, but he never addressed it and started having all kinds of IPS issues, but I think the key is to how good the actually outlet power and grounding is, I'd definitely suggest checking the outlet and then the end of the extension with a meter or line voltage checker. I wouldn't want to see over an 8 foot extension cord used.

This needs a qualified electrician. Distance plays a major role in wire gauge size. You need to pull in the correct circuit, this isn't the time to cut corners.
