I have a customer having trouble figuring out how to scan to PDF.

She says the choose the scan to MultiPDF option, scan the docs. and don't know what to do from there. Apparently there is no further prompt or error.

I haven't done this on a Kip so I am hoping to score some insight on the procedure or an operators manual describing it before I run out to try to help them. I have the service and user manuals, but see no helpful information there.

Select a multi-page file format such as PDF, scan in your documents; notice on the upper right a count of the number of pages on the Green Start Button.

When done, hit the Red Stop Button and it will close the document and write the file out.

Okay they have been able to scan single docs with no problem and they arrive at the selected destination. When attempting multiple they hit the red stop button and would would seem the process is complete. No errors or further prompts but the PDF doesn't arrive.

This is just a 3 page attempt, I am at a loss as to why it works flawlessly with single scans but with Multiple it sends the file to oblivion.

Into what type of Mailbox are you trying to scan? Is it the same type of mailbox as the single page file? Is the single page file a PDF as well?

To me, it would seem that the file is not closing (getting created) properly after all the files have been scanned.

Process:
Each document is scanned to the hard drive of the printer
Once all of the documents are scanned and the user presses the Red Button, the system stops the scanning process
Behind the scenes, the printer is combining the images into a single file then transfers them to the destination (Mailbox)

I have seen, in the past, situations where the combining of the documents into their final format would fail.

Unfortunately this is not something that is super simple to have you check into and verify. But, this is my guess....

I am sure you are correct, but I am at a loss as to any way to cure it.

Assuming by some chance the file has been created and is just not delivered is there a temp folder or someplace that it could be accessed thru Request?

Or is there a way to attempt scanning to MultiPDF thru Request?

I checked the service records and it appears they were upgraded to 7.

Have you tried to re-ghost the controller yet? That might be the best thing to try if you haven't.

In every other way this Kip is running so great right now, I hesitate something as drastic as a reghost. Kip support tried it with a 7.2.348 version and verified it worked so suggested the upgrade from 7.1.0.189.

I will try that if I can find no other work around.

Thanks to everyone for help, I don't know where I'd be without this site!

Updating to 7.2.348 didn't help. But I noticed the amount of memory used does not drop after the MultiPDF attempt like it does after the successful single PDF scans.

So I think the info created is stuck somewhere, I am wondering if this behavior might be similar to Outlook. When there is a corrupt or problem file in your outbox nothing else will go till it is deleted. If that is the case does anyone know what folder or folders might hold the non-compiled information or the created PDF that was never sent?

Running check disk on the hard drives resolved the problem.

Cheers!

You've already resolved it, but next time you are poking around the controller, check the SCANDIR folder (I believe that is the right name)

I spoke too soon, I was told they were never able to scan more than a single PDF, but it turns out they could scan two into a PDF but no more.

I only tested it with two drawings based on what I was told.

So I have not resolved this, can this machine scan to FTP or Drop Box?

3000B using the newest 7.2 KIP OS.
