Hello folks - back with strange 'spots' again. They really look like squished gnats exactly down the middle of the paper as it feeds out. There appear to be four of them - 2 adults, 1 child and an infant. On the grid test print they are exactly in every 22nd block; however in real life they vary from 12.25 - 13.75 inches apart, do not change size with zoom, are not on the drum and appear before getting to fuser.

I've read about toner drop but don't see how the same (or very similar) pattern would drop consistently and how/why would they appear at a spacing greater then the circumference of drum or rollers?

Did the usual wire, drum, developer check & clean and didn't see anything unusual. I also wiped the led head thinking it must be a brain thing - but my brain sure isn't having any success in figuring this one out! Sad

A repeat of an image at that distance and the same repeat image is probably coming from the drum you just might be missing it.

Thanks Chillin for responding. I can't get a picture down to 6kb to put in avatar but these marks are almost 1/4" and are in a V pattern; each of the four marks are different and then repeat. Actually even the repeats may be slightly different, but very close in resemblance.

The drum is small on the SP5000 and these repeats are over 13" - that's what really has me confounded.

Update on today's 4 varying blemishes: they are now 2" to the left (roll side of machine) from where they were yesterday.

What has 12" or so cycling? Or maybe a 48-60" cycling because the pattern repeats itself? Confused

Spots disappeared after a few days. Also the magnetism in my super - duper extendable flashlight with magnet on end is gone. Thinking that spots had something to do with when the giant magnet accidentally got stuck to the mag roller while it was out of the machine. Anyway I'd rather have no spots and no extended magnet then the other way around Very Happy
