Did Kip ever make a Windows 7 driver for the 6000 with an XP controller? If so, does anyone have it they could e-mail me at [email protected].
Thank you! |

I'm not sure if they did but why don't you just use the newest driver and tell it the machine is a 5000 or 7700? If the mixedenvironment patch is on the controller, the new driver should work.
Just wondering. |

I was wondering about that CJ, I didn't think that would work since one is IPS based and the other is not. I can have them give it a try if no one else knows for sure there is a correct driver. Thanks for the input. |

The printer drivers are not specific per machine (excluding the color machines). All monochrome printer drivers send the exact same data to all monochrome printers. The only difference is the printer driver object name and that can be changed by right-clicking on the driver and renaming it.
As noted in the previous reply, you will need to make sure that the mixed environment patch is in place.
Also, depending on how old the version of Unattend on the controller, you might have issues with job ticket incompatibility, but I don't think you will. |

I forgot to mention I did install that patch 6 months ago, thinking they could use request 7 to print from once their new work stations (windows 7) were connected in August. I did not understand they have proprietary CAD software the Request can't process. This is the only 6000 in my service territory and they are a 2 hour drive away, and no maintenance contract, so its not real simple to just try this or that. The answer to the problem is a 7900, I just got to get them to understand that. |

Before we change the machine for an 7100, one of my customer had a Kip6000.
I already tried the Windows driver 5.XXX and it won't work at 100%. You will have more error sheet than a good print.
The only one driver I could use and work fine is the 3.165 version. For sure, mix environnement patch was installed.
If you don't have it, just PM me and I'll give you it. |

Thanks for that info Slyman, I would appreciate it if you could e-mail me that driver, I don't have that one and I'm not sure if the customer has converted to their new work stations yet or not.
My e-mail is [email protected] |

If the machine has the Post Script option just use an HP Design Jet PS driver. Works like a charm.
If you don't know how to add network ports then just load the KIP driver to install a port then select that port for the HP Design Jet PS Driver and your off and running.
Also the earlier versions of the KIP 7 Windows driver would work also. At some revision level it won't work with the older equipment.
By design I'm sure.

I've never had an issue running the WPD on a Win7 PC to an older HDP controller. From my experience, the mixenvironment patch was only for Request communication. At the time when everyone was switching to Win7, people would call and say they couldn't use Request (IE..errors, locking up, problems selecting files and instability issues). I would just direct them to use the WPD until I was able to get there to install the patch. |
