So I did a rebuild (probably my 500th one) and when I put it all back together I have toner dumping on the drive side. I can see the reg roller is not sitting properly on the dev roller there is a gap on that side. I take the whole thing apart reseat everything and still have the same problem. Is there a tech bulletin i dont know about? I have done this plenty of times but cannot figure out why my reg roller will not sit properly on the dev roller.

Any suggestions?

I don't mean to belittle you, but did you remember to put the bearings in, and confirm that they are correcly installed? The only way I could see the reg and dev roller not sitting flush is if the bearings are missing. If they are in place, the only other thing is if the reg or dev roller is end is bent? Or cleaning blade not doing it's job.

Also confirm that you've pressed down on the sides and locked them in place, also.

If belittleing me or humiliating me fixes this machine, then bring it on. But i have checked the bearings even replaced them just to be safe. My next step would be to replace the metal brackets that the bearings fir into.

Thanks for the help.

Is there more than one way to install the brackets? Or reverse them?

They only go in one way, and you cannot reverse them since there is a right hand side and left hand side,

The drive side is the side with the locking screw. Sometimes I push down really hard on the regulation roller gear before I lock that screw down nice and tight. Not sure if this helps but you did say "any thoughts"

Very Happy

If you've replaced the bearings already and it doesn't help I don't think replacing the brackets would do anything, if the bearings mount flush. Like CJ said, make sure you pressurize the right side and tighten the screw on the bracket before the two screws holding the spring.

If you have too much toner in the center of the print and you know your rubber cleaning blade is working correctly, you might be putting too much pressure on the ends of the reg. roller. It's hard to do but the center of the roller could be bowed if the ends are pushed to hard downwards. Just a thought.

Just my 2 cents.
I never had issues with the 3000 or 3100 dev. rebuilds. I put them all back together pushed the speing bracket down, tighten and done. On the 7100 I find you have you have to follow the presurization steps exactly or I have been seeing issues like you are having.

I have definitely had issues with excess toner and double images in the middle of the prints when the ends of the regulation roller have too much pressure on them. Its not very difficult to get that metal roller to bow, like others have mentioned.

Just an idea...is your Dev inside foam seals are placed correctly ? That can cause a small bend to the blade and not doing it's job correctly.

And like others says, now you have too much pressure if the center. re-pressurize correctly.
