Oce TDS 400 - prints lighter and lighter...recover the developer manually and after a few great prints....lighter and lighter, again.

Replaced the developer, toner hopper, corona wires, drum, developer/toner sensor, and installed a line conditioner to address possible voltage drops when running multiple prints, no improvement.

Any help is appreciated.

What does recovered the developer refer to? You said you replaced the toner hopper, was the auger sticking out of the tube? Make sure there isn't a blockage in the developer housing where the auger/tube enter the housing. Is the dispenser motor running? It's been a while since I touched a 400 but those are areas that come to mind.Toner sensor?

Hi, one easy check would be to dead stop the machine while printing. Open and look at the image on the drum. If the image on the drum is dark and prints are light it would be a transfer issue. If the image on the drum is light it would be a development issue. If you manually add toner to the developer assy and it get darker then the toner density adjustment needs to be done. Hope this is of some help

The toner dispenser motor doesn't turn on, is there a fuse for that and if so where is it located?

Hi,

are you trying to turn on the motor in service mode or in normal user mode. It will only come on if it is asking for more toner. If you are doing this in service mode you can pull the tube out of the developer assy and see of the auger spring is turning. There is no fuse for that motor.

Did you follow the procedure in the TSM when you replaced the developer?

What is the procedure listed in the TSM?

when you change the developer, you need to do it in SDS mode and run the developer replacement procedure. This resets the voltages and toner values so the machine knows when to add toner as you print.
Depending on your software load, you may need to have a service laptop connected to the controller to do this with Lotus notes.
Otherwise, you will never get this problem resolved.....

Can the voltages be checked/recalibrated by a Tech at anytime, or does that have to be done precisely at the time the developer was replaced?

You can view the setpoint value in SDS 05-1-001. You might try doing the developer replacement procedure again with the current developer.

Have you determined that your toner motor is functioning with SDS test 05-6-003, and actually see toner moving through the auger?
You can remove the auger tube from the developr unit and run the test with a waste bag over the end so you don't have a mess in the machine...
Good luck!
