Undoubtedly half this post will seem stupid, but almost all our Kip techs are out this week for training/vacation and the other one is out on a call.
We have a client who after a power outage was no longer able to print to their 2000. I did the basics, reseated SCSI cable, power cycled the machine. Powered the machine on alone and then powered on the scanner and PCs and still no luck. Machine just stays in ready to print mode.
Odd thing I noticed is that in the fuser area there is a lot of orange dust, and the fuser seems to keep operating despite no jobs or anything going through it. (Are the fuser rollers able to go fast enough to grind themselves down?)
All voltages seem to check out ok according to the manual. Can anyone give me a starting point from here?
Hate to ask, but all my other techs are out at the moment, and still waiting on Kip to give us a ring back. |

Sounds like the internal controller is not working correctly?
Open the back panel of th emachine and verify that the internal controller indeed is coming on. You can plug a monitor into the motherboard and look a the display.
This PC needs to be on and working in order to get prints out.
When cycling power, make sure to totally unplug the machine for a few secs... this will reset the controller as well, whereas if you just flip the switch off and on, the computer won't shutdown and a software problem could be just sitting there. |

Thanks Phan. Sorry for the long wait on the reply. The fuser had shorted out and wasn't allowing the machine to boot correctly. Replaced and everything booted fine. Thanks for the response though
