|

I have a 5000 that every once in a while cuts a piece of paper about 3inches long, and raps it around the drum just under the charge unit, causing black copies.
Everytime I go there I cannot reproduce the problem, but have seen this paper sitting on the drum.
Any help will be appreciated |

Clean your cutter and adjust the switches on both ends of the cutter. The cutter is probably making a cut to one side and the cutter is not stopping at the one side and then returning to the other side. Happens when the switches are not working properly causing the sliver of paper you are seeing.
Also check the movement of the cutter while it is out to see if goes smoothly both ways. I have seen the cutter in one direction is tighter and this causes it to be slow in that one direction which will cause the same thing. You can shim the cutter wheel so there is not so much pressure on the cutter wheel will also helps this. Do a search for e-07 errors in the KIP 6000 section and you should find more about this.
If adjusting doesn't work then replace the cutter. Should take care of it for you. |

Kip has also released an updated firmware for the 5000 that addresses this issue and some others. You can download the new firmware K109X03A from KIP.

I have a KIP 5000 that is getting "charger errors" and "cutter errors". I know there is a firmware that is supposed to address both issues. My problem is I can only access KIP info through Konica Minolta and I am having trouble finding an exact procedure. I have downloaded the TB-K109-22 bulletin and the K109X03A firmware. It looks like I need to find an older laptop and a serial crossover cable and run a KIPDIAG.exe file to be able to do this. I can probably locate the crossover and laptop (tower if necessary), but I can't find the KIPDIAG.exe and KIPDIAG.chm files. Is there anyone out there that can help me out with instructions and the files????? Thanks. |
