Unfortunately things are going to get much worse before they get better. Recovery will take years not months as your new president thinks. Hunker down and prepare. The doc is.

While nobody likes to see anyone lose their job, it is the next logical wave.

Travelling dealer reps are quickly becoming a thing of the past in many industries. Copiers, leasing, paper, parts, even pharmaceuticals all of these have been trending away from the traditional rep toward more leveraged inside support.

The primary function of a dealer rep is to put on dealers. If you have enough dealers in a given area, what is the point of keeping a rep on?

It is sad, though, to see yet another example of personal service being eroded. In the past dealer reps were usually really good guys who were a valuable source of industry information.

The art of salesmanship takes another hit. Too bad.
