|
|
We just assembled a KIP 3000. When we make copies, the image on the prints repeat itself.
The repeated image prints lighter and lighter but stays on the prints.
Any tips for a new tech would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Rick |

check your cleaning roller on dv unit if that not right it could cause this also check by stoping it in mid cycle and see if the image repete before the fuser unit this will help you see if it the dv unit or fuser unit |

Yes we did try stopping it during print cycle before it hits the fuser and the print looks fine.
So we replaced the whole fuser unit but the problem still exist. What should I be looking for on the cleaning roller?
Yes, It's brand new out of the box.
What do you mean by turn transfer support on? |

Turning "Transfer support ON" will slightly increase the amount of voltage on the trasfer wire, thus ensuring proper toner transfer from the drum to the paper. This may or may not solve the issue, but it's a very good place to start. (especially since it's brand new)
Transfer Support can be turned on by accessing the "SERVICE" configuration screen (page 1) |

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, turning "transfer support on" did not work.
Have any more tips on mind? |

It really depends on what type of repeat it is...
#1 Check distance with a ruler between repeats.
approx. 9.5" means it's drum related
approx. 7" means it's fuser related
Try prints from a different customer. Sometimes if the lead edge is too close to the edge of the paper, improper transfer occurs resulting in repeat images.
If none of this works then adjust the height of the transfer and sep wires to be a bit closer to the drum. If you can't adjust height, then go into settings (in your manual) and crank up the voltages a little bit and try again.
good luck! |

Distance of the repeat is exactly 5". It seems like its definetly the fuser because it prints fine until it hits the fuser section.
There's also some toner residue getting on the fuser for some reason.
But we replaced the fuser unit and it's still doing the same thing.
Thanks |

I would suggest checking the bias voltage and contact connection to the cleaning roller and check the voltages and contacts to the developer unit. 5" sounds like the diameter of the cleaning roller to me.
just a thought. |

Sounds like a good place to check.
Unfortunately I dont have a service manual yet. I'm guessing I'll probably receive one after I take that training class this month.
Would you mind sending me the voltage and tolerance for it?
Or if someone has a digital copy of service manual they can share? |

hey cezwhat thanks for the manual. that helped a lot.
so i finally got a chance to check the voltages for cleaning roller and it looks really off unless I'm doing something wrong.
Voltage I received during print cycle is 450 when it should be 700?
And Voltage during toner collection process is -548 and it should be -500.
I'm getting ready to call kip tech support to double check the procedure I did is okay and it's okay to change the voltage.
450 to 700 just seems way off, that's why i dont feel very confident in changing voltages.
Anyone have tips or advice?
Thanks |

Have You checked the fusing temp.? Last week I installed a 5000 that the fusing temp from factory was set to 135. I raised to 150 and all was good. _________________ "Learn how to work, Kid" - BTLS |

At this point (actually should have been long before this point) you should be screaming at KIP to send you a new machine that they actually qualtiy checked before they wrapped it up. This is absolutely insane that you must do anything near this with a new machine. A new machine should work out of the box. Period.
None of the dealers I ever supported would have had to put up with this.
