I have an E-6 on the display. I can't get roll paper to feed from roll. Anybody see this problem. |

The doctor feels bad for you. E6 is the dreaded pocket door motor error and it sucks. A little background here first: The 1880 uses a cutter unit that is mounted straight and travels across the paper to cut it while it is moving (feeding). In order to have the cuts be square, the paper must have a loop of matierial that can be taken up when the cutter fires. Otherwise if your paper was tight the cuts would be at an angle. Anyway, this loop of paper is created by the pocket door, which is actually a motor driven gate that opens to alow this loop to be created. This motor is buried deep in the lower back of the machine and is a total pain in the a$$ to get to. If the motor is bad, you have my sympathies. Let's hope that the only problem is with the linkage to the gate. I remember a run of machines that were missing some screws in the linkage from the factory. Let's hope you have one of those machines. Put the machine in service mode and try to fire the pocket door motor and watch the linkage.
Good luck. _________________ What we have gained in technology, we have lost in humanity. |

I had this same issue about 4 months ago. I lucked out and it was the worm gear that jumped off the linkeage. I was able to just resent the door and then grease gear and it works fine. FYI easy way to get to is unplug machine, take off back panel, look all the way in. worm gear located center of machine. _________________ This day will be my best day ever! |
