Have a 3000 that was continually giving roll feed issues from roll 2. When roll 1 would run out of paper, and it switched to roll 2, it would start feeding paper until the printer was turned off. Changed out the roll feed clutch almost upon install. Thought it was fixed, but found out later, rather than sooner, that it was an ongoing issue. We applied all TB's we could find, any tip on the forums, and nothing was working. When I went in last week, it wouldn't even feed roll 2 for printing, it would just display a paper jam in feeder. One thing that I was continually noticing was that the roll would spin quite freely in the drawer, and when opening the drawer after a jam, there would be quite a lot of paper loosened off the roll. I figured that the sensors were having problems reading the roll properly due to the excess slack in the paper. (There is a defenite difference in the tension of roll 1 vs roll 2.) I ended up fixing it by installing the roll shims that were intended for the roll 1 issue onto roll 2 in the same manner as I would for roll 1. This increased the drag on the roll, and helped to prevent it from free spinning so much. |
