I have a customer that is having problems with copying mylars. The mylars are civil drawings with very light contour lines. I have been able to get them to the point where we can get most of the drawing minus the light contour lines. I tried the same drawing on my 2080 scanner and the lines showed up very faint. I have tweeked the density and threshold settings alot, also adjusted the Dot Level Enhancment in the configuration settings. I have gone through a full roll of paper testing and I am at a loss. Any help would be very helpful.
Thanks

My wife and I own a repro shop and do a lot of topo mylars. She actually came up with a "fix" for this one.....Run a sheet of bond behind the original.
That seems to give the white balance, etc., a better chance at the fine lines.
Note that its still possible in AutoCad (or actually any CADD program) to generate lines too thin to properly scan. CADD based originals sometimes need the lines "beefed up" before they will scan reliably.
We tend to store our in-house generated CADD files in PDF format. They print better, and we do not have to scan them to file. |
