The link below will take you to the announcement of the availability of the full line of KIP product through Toshiba dealers.

This of course raises a number of questions, which I imagine will be debated at great length here and elsewhere.

Fear not, may I remind you of the following list of those who would seek to vanquish the erstwhile KIP dealer:

IKON

Kyocere

Imagistics

Konica-Minolta

Toshiba

Next?

Remember, specialists will ALWAYS defeat dabblers.

Save your breath, save your outrage, we are used to this by now.

I can't imagine the folks at K-M are too pleased, or maybe they don't care.

This is a non-event, keep selling and providing the level of service they can not.

Good scoop Doggie.
You are right on the money with your take on this deal.

Remember the song from Queen, "Another one bites the dust?"
Or was it" Another Kip partnership goes bust?" I never could understand those rock lyrics.

I agree that Konica-Minolta and Xerox are not competition for smaller dealers. They are not going to go into accounts with small numbers.

I also don't think you should count them out completely in the market that they are in though. Who do you think got Kip's into all of the Fed-Ex Kinko's? Thousands of printers have been sold by Konica, I don't think they are going away anytime soon.

They reach a completely different market than local dealers and are able to provide service througout the entire country. Since Kip doesn't have a national service staff this is the only way for them to get into the national accounts.

Name recognition helps everyone on this board, I find it encouraging that big companies are selling Kip equipment and doing very well at the same time.

Master, deep down I agree with you. The more KIP products out there the better for all of us independant or dealer guys. The issue I have always had is that KIP will make anyone a dealer, more to the point, they will make anyone a " trained tech". Remember, I used teach these shot gun classes that were supposed to take a guy that has been working on office copiers all his life and make him a KIP pro in 2 1/2 days. It just doesn't work. Then when the tech gets in the field and is stumped he looks for support like he is used to getting from Cannon or MIta or Sharp and it is just not there. Nothing against the great guys in tech support, there just isn't enough of them to support these guys. Then they get frustrated and blame the product. I have seen it a million times.
Imagine my frustration when we landed IKON as a dealer and then they jumped because we could not support. They blamed the product and KIP got another black eye.

I know the KIP product is the best out there. I do not like to hear differently from former customers or dealers. I have said it before and will say it again, " a great product but a terrible company".

Now if the rumors about a sale to larger company were true, we just might have market domination here.
