I'm servicing a 7970
Shut it down to clean
On power up it gets to Kip Systems K with spinning wheel
And hangs with message please wait
It's been 20 minutes
Tried complete power down
Still same.... |

| Pull the HD out of the IPS and connect to a different PC with a usb ext drive adaptor and run a chkdsk on the drive. reconnect and try it again. |

so Bigal...looks like im in the same boat..... u got it to run again after 30 minutes .....got the same problem ....it hangs on sys K logo with the wheel going round ....gonna try your remedy........31 minutes
but before that did u see a shadow image of the desktop icons on the panel behind the K logo while it was doing the hangup |

| Its been awhile but if I remember correctly the usb for data was not plugged into a blue USB-3 port from the factory |

I don't know if the KIP version of windows will run this, you could run sfc /scannow. You'll need to run the cmd window as admin.
