Popcorn popping sound coming from Fuser section, when rotating. I can't see anything broken or out of round. Anyone experience this before? |

Try greasing all gears on both sides. |

Always buttered. Never any strange flavors, just butter and salt.
I've had the bearings and/or the plastic bushings between the bearing and the rollers cause that problem. _________________ Any ideas expressed are figments of my imagination.

I ended up loosening and then readjusting the tension of the drive belt and then cleaning off some gunk that was on the teeth of the gears - wasn't confident that this would solve the issue but it stopped making popcorn. |

Oce TDS 800's are prone to that sort of buildup on toothed pulleys. Didn't think to mention it, CRS. _________________ Regards,

This is a KIP860 but I'm guessing you're just referencing the OCE TDS 800... |

I only have one 7170 that does that. Only way I've been able to stop it is
pack the fuser gears like a wheel bearing in grease. _________________ 39 years in the small format business, large format since 2009. Toshiba D.A.T.E. trainer. |
