Shortly after updating the firmware from 8.12 to 10.19 one of our pagewides started to misbehave. For example, from a fresh reboot the printer would run the first job without a problem. Sending a second job the printer would cycle up, then down and ending with a supplies fault. A reboot was necessary to run another job. After several weeks of working with HP support on the issue it turns out the magenta cart was the root cause even though no warning of cart problems was displayed on the screen. This after returning the firmware to 8.12. Seems it is a combination of firmware issues and a bad cart. HP admitted the firmware is wonky and another update is coming in January.
Unfortunately, rolling the firmware back to 8 requires taking Smartstream back to 5.0, 5.1 won't work. If you're having odd problems with your Pagewide(s) please let me know.
