I've seen it in person. Basically a beefed up KIP 800. 3 models
970 4 roll printer
980 4 roll printer and 720 scanner
990 4 roll printer and 2300 scanner
Looks just like the 800 series machines and size.
It has a heavier duty fuser section for the increased speeds.
I'm guessing the fuser roller is liquid filled like the 8000/9000/9900
I think something about bigger developer rollers and dev drive
It will take 650' rolls which will be nice.
Pretty impressive speed to see the color prints coming out @ 16 36x24 per minute of good quality prints.
New software SystemK 2.0 might be the best software KIP has put out to date. Everything is all in one program. Request/Print/Print Pro and all the scan software and color editing software. I've not had a chance to mess with the software but first impressions is it's very nice.
Price is really, really good.
Wish it was here 2 years ago when the 9900 was sold out. |

Don't forget the new stacker, that was pretty amazing.
Virtually no jogging needed anymore.
This machine is going to be a good seller. |

I thing it will be a good replacement to the 9000's and 9900's. It is 16 D per minute in color and 20 D minute in B/W mono mode...that's only 2 D less than the 9000's.
I've seen that the colors units are not engages when running mono mode, that's a good feature.
Now, next step for Kip will be to make a small color printer, small as the 7170 for those who prints only 20-25k / year but needed color with a good msrp price around 20K. that will be a really really good for our market here !! |

I'd be interested to hear from those installing & running Pagewide about the time & effort needed to install & calibrate, from the start of uncrating, to running production prints. |

Got our 900 this week. It's running like a champ. Took less time to setup than the 800s. |

So far I have to say that I really like the 900. We have seen an issue with cut length on larger prints, i.e. 30x42 and above but other than that no complaints. The new software is a little buggy when dealing with large sets of plans, but is a big step forward from Kip Print Pro. Having one piece of software for both scanning and printing was a great move in my opinion. |
