I recently had a bad bloated leaky cap on an ips controller cause the machine to often need to be rebooted since it would not wake up from its "sleep" state for the customer... They also reported the display flashing on and off at times.... This was about two months ago and after replacing the cap all has been working fine so... |

So to date all the kip 7100s I have in the field but 1 has had these same capacitors fail and different issues (mostly boot and lockups) from it... some controllers only had a couple that failed others have had 5 or 6 bloated or leaking. when I test them on my capacitor testor they are bad.
I suspect the one that hasnt failed yet which is ironically my oldest 7100 does have them starting to fail because the customer has been having to reboot the machine every now and then now, I plan on taking a look the next time im in the area.
I have not seen the issue on any 7170s yet so maybe the ips board is of better quality. |
