Kip 3000 without the PDF option, so after installing the Windows Print Driver I changed the "Output Format" in the WPD from KIPGL to KIPScript and was able to print PDF files via the WPD.

Couple days later customer called, now all the prints have KIP's PDF/Postscript Feature Required message across all the prints.

PDF/Postscript feature is a keycode on the printer that you would need to purchase in order to print PDF/Postscripts. Changing the "output format" at the workstation should not override or give you permission to print pdf's without the watermark message. If they do have the PDF/Postscript keycodes and am now getting the watermark, they probably lost the keycodes and you'll probably have to look at a software issue.

If they do not have the PDF/Postscript option and you were somehow able to override the permissions of the printer by changing to KIP Script, then that's something new.

I faintly remember but I believe Request overrode the permissions or the other way around with the WPD or neither. Also, I know that if you have a protected .PDF, you could not print it using the WPD but for some reason you could print it via Request.

Ask them to send a drawing using the WPD as Script and GL and then try submitting with Request and see what happens.

From my understanding the PDF/Postscript option allows printing PDF's through Request. Without the PDF/Poscript option customers are limited to printing PDF's through the WPD only. Just change the WPD Output Format from KIPGL (default) to KIPScript.

Which I did and the customer printed PDF's through the WPD for several days without a problem. I also had the same controller in another unit and it printed PDF's via the WPD fine, no watermark.

(?)

I deleted the WPD and reinstalled it with the Output Format set to KipScript and now it's printing PDF files w/o the watermark.

Strange how it just decided to stop working after a few days.
