This is our in house scanner....and they are doing a ton of scanning mylars. Our people know not to put staples thru the machine but the OEM glass is getting scratched in a matter of days.

I have cleaned the planten roller and increased the spacing by placing some "tape shims" under the spacing rollers on both ends. I just tried making the gap a little larger.............

What else could be causing this???

Probably dust on the mylars, our production people use a Swiffer on the mylars before they feed them. Try Brillantize on the glass. Mylars generally carry a static charge which attracts dirt and ?

There are several Technical Bulletins on this issue including new spacing disks for the upper roller. See TB-K75-020, 024 & 028. If you don't have these let me know and I will send them 2 you. As most everyone here should agree, the KIP 2000 series scanner was one of the best BW scanners built!
