I have a customer that is having a problem with large blotches of toner on the copies when they make a larger number of prints. If they run five or six at a time it is ok. These blotches appear about 12 inches in from the left side. They are always in the same area. If they shut the machine off for 3 hours or more they can run several more before the toner shows up again. I have seen the problem and worked on it three different times. I know the toner isn't falling out of the cleaning unit because there isn't any toner inside of the machine and you don't see a spill over mark on the cleaning unit lower seal when you remove the drum. It also sounds like it is heat related since it goes away when the machine is turned off for a long period of time. The drum has been in the machine for 8 months but doesn't have a large volume of prints run on it. It seems like I remember something about the developer building up pressure, but I don't know if I'm right on that. I appreciate any help you can give me in solving the problem. |

Is the machine level (front to back) Check on the turn-around section. Is there toner build up on there? How are the developer posts? Are they both tight? _________________ Everytime something is made idiot proof... the world creates a better idiot! |

I have had all subassemblies out of the machine and can't find toner anywhere. All the corona wires are new but the symptom doesn't look like the marks left by corona wires. Machine is level and developer post are tight. |
