I have a T1200 that about once a month the customer calls up with the error "Requires a manual Unload" If you go through the process of unloading and reloading all is good again. Trying to figure out what is causing this error and the only thing I can think of is someone is submitting a job over for cut sheet. I have reinstalled the latest Firmware, Ran diagnostics on the Electronics, Rewinder, Sensor and media movement. Everything passes.

Has anyone ever seen this user error message?

I have not seen or heard of that error but I don't work on them as much as I used to either. The first thing that comes to mind for me is the length tracking feature. If that is enabled then you have to unload paper via the menu in order for the bar code to be printed with the remaining length info. Do you know if they have that feature enabled?
