I have a 7700 with 810k on the machine it had two problems one the tit for the grid spring broke, this cause what I call corona streak, and after I fix that I notice a black band about 1/4 inch wide on the right side I pull the dev unit and found the seal sticking out so I rebuild the dev unit new seals and roller. but I still have the black band if you run 36 wide you see it on the edge. the cleaning roller clean I clean up all spill toner even if you open the unit after it has run and stop the band is still on the drum. I at the point I don't know where to run to next? any help out there _________________ Charlie

This sounds like it's coming from the Image Corona.
Sounds like the Grid Plate is shorting out. It's not Arcing as it's not throwing an error code.
When the Image Corona cannot charge evenly on the drum you will end up with Black in the areas where it doesn't charge properly.
You might have a Bad Grid Plate. They can crack and cause this.
Also if you had a small piece of paper stuck up there that would do this as well.
The only other thing that could cause any type of banding would be the Drum and the Developer. _________________ "The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten." - Benjamin Franklin and John Ruskin |
