I have a HP designjet t770 where the customer is getting a 86:01 error, i did all the normal things like cleaned encoder strip cleaned and oiled carriage bar, made sure belt was in good condition, plus upgraded firmware. Well that was a month ago and now it has come back has anyone else had this or know of something i might have missed any help would be great.

The manual says it is a scan axis error but lists no corrective action Shocked

I would try cleaning/lubricating the carriage rails again. Is it in a dirty environment?

If it's a dirty environment then it wouldn't hurt to clean the encoder again. Just don't clean the lines off of it.

If this issue keeps coming back I would recommend replacing the carriage motor. It has been my experience with printers in dirty environments.
