Let's see, what else could be wrong? Started with multiple vertical lines running on about 5" down left side, but great image. Lines looked liked overkill for grid wires but cleaned them anyway. After that it's been all downhill - the large solid black letters on cover sheet are blotchy, site map in corner is unreadable and the black "SITE" is white; rest of print is washed out except for the LE trim line and print for the first ~45 MM out of machine and the solid trim lines running LE/TE; other horizontal lines are a tad messed up.
The long grid test sheet looks good-from printer and from scanner.
All wires have been cleaned and adjusted to specs, LED is clean and developer roller is evenly coated.
Bad areas show with hard stop on drum.
Seriously need advice please _________________ Sheila, LADIBug |

If this is a SP5000 the one thing I remember is the developer had to be replaced every 100,000 sq.ft. to maintain solids. We also sent our mag rollers out to be glass beaded when the surface got to smooth. _________________ "If you mess with a thing long enough, It'll break" |

Thanks for your reply! Developer dump is happening tomorrow if UPS complies and I sure hope that works; however in fourteen years I've never seen anything happen so drastically and quickly that couldn't be cured after a few minutes or hours (like forgetting to put charge wire back in). The only gradual issue was a lot of various size lines appearing on left side and could work around/temporarily fix this. But this was an instantaneous happening where the black title and grayscale map were perfect, just vertical stripes on one side. Removed and cleaned grid/charge assembly and after replacing it the next print was unbelievably horrible with no fill in blacks. Tried another assembly and it was the same way so it apparently was not something I did when cleaning charge wire. And drum swap didn't help. A tech (works on KIPs but not this model) couldn't figure it out so hoping you're right about the developer. _________________ Sheila, LADIBug |

Dumping developer did not work. What's left? What should be large solid black letters come out faint and splotchy; solids in grayscale areas are white instead of black. Also numerous vertical lines of varying widths and density. Image appears this way on drum. I'd think it's a charge issue but at this point haven't a clue as to what else needs checking.
Are there certain boards that can be checked for correct voltage? Maybe one of them has a problem? Right now plotting jobs - lol this is getting tedious! Any more help or suggestions will be appreciated! _________________ Sheila, LADIBug |

The T/S wires zapped right through the end of the block from one wire to the other I guess - it actually burnt and separated the end a bit.
Dip switches 2 and 4 are on and a different end block; set the 401 back a few numbers and prayed a lot and prints are OK now. Still have no idea about the solids went berserk but good to go!
Will be painting the blocks with clear polish at next wire change. _________________ Sheila, LADIBug |
