I recently ghosted this machine for IPS problems everything worked as planned except now the fuser is not heating up. Could this be a simple firmware upgrade problem? I havenever worked on this model before, any help greatly appreciated |

I doubt it has anything to do with the firmware.
Have you checked the fuser lamp? This model has had issues with the lamp going out in it. |

Does anyone have any idea which number I use for the IR lamps on the 7700?!
I am finding four different numbers.
Z206800010 - white - QIR230-1500
Z206800020 - red - QIR230-1300
-or-
Z206800050 - QIR230-1250
Z206800060 - QIR230-1550
The manual lists all 4 but in different places.

It has been a problem with the 7700. I have replaced 2 of the RED 1550 watt lamps.
Usually they are backordered!
Not sure about other wattages maybe used in Europe?? |

About a year ago I had one that would stay in the warming up mode for what seemed like forever. I could see that the lamps were coming on so I was confused as to why it wouldn't get to a ready state. Placed a call to KIP support and they pointed me to a setting I never would have guessed. Sadly my memory sucks bad and I don't remember the exact setting but it was in the configuration portion and had something to do with toner coverage high or something to that effect and turning it off solved the problem. Sorry for not remembering the exact setting, if I was near one I could look and find it. |

I ordered the lamps, and well, the 1550 is on backorder of course. I decided to try some of the other troubleshooting in the manual and ended up replacing the DC Driver PCB 12050 It worked for about 10 minutes, I printed 4 test prints they came out partially fused and ends wrinkled, then the machine went back to the original error code E-01. The lamps looked like they were on, and the fuser did get hot but then it just stopped working again. Is it possible that somehow the new Drive got messed up by a diff. problem? any ideas? or should I just wait for the lamps and hope it is one of them? |

Well, I replaced the lamps, it worked long enough to print a test page or two, then error came back. I took out the red lead lamp and sure enough it was bad. So KIP says it is the lamp, put a new one in... uuummmmm didn't I already do that? anyway does anyone have any idea what could be causing the lamp to go bad? KIP seems to think I just got a bad lamp, so I ordered a new one, again, I cant just keep ordering new lamps, but KIP isnt being very helpful. Any ideas? |

I would love to know as well why those lamps are going bad.
I'm sure KIP doesn't think there's an issue.
No one has noticed at KIP that the heat lamps are on constant backorder.
I was told, "keep a spare set" since they are always on backorder. |

The first set aren't available anymore (at least not from my supplier), but the second set doesn't list which is the red and which is the white. I learned the hard way that the 1250 is the replacement for the 1500 and the 1550 is for the 1300, even though you would logically assume that the closer numbers would be the ones that are related. |

Well, I ordered another lamp (it wasn't on backorder this time!) anyway, the first lamp I ordered ended up being defective lamp, or so KIP says, the lamp was fine before I installed it. The second lamp did the job though. Thanks for all the input it really helped. |
