Hey guys,

I’m having trouble installing XP controller software on a Dell Optiplex GX520.

It uses an IDE DVD drive and when I put in the floppy I get this error
CDR101: Not Ready Reading Drive 0

Then it tells me to Please insert the Oce installation CD and reboot, but just repeats the process over and over.

I have installed this software before, so I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong.
I have the floppy tool REF2_0_2 to make the most current floppy, then I use the floppy configuration tool 4.7.5 to make a XPE floppy, with the TDS860-TDS810 , monitor, Keyboard layout United States, Time zone PST, then Proceed.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Bad Drive or Bad Media probably. Could be bad controller for the drive, bad cable, etc. Since the controller is built on to the motherboard you would need a new motherboard. Also a bad Power Supply could cause this. I have seen PC's work fine until you are trying to power all the drives at once then they flake out.

General PC error. See following description.

A DOS error message. The full message is

Not ready reading drive x
Abort, Retry, Fail?

This means the drive door is left open, or the floppy disk is not in the drive. Either put the appropriate floppy disk in the drive or close the drive door (turn lever) and press R.

To switch to another drive, press F, and type in the drive letter you want to go back to when you get the "Current drive is no longer valid>" message. In DOS versions prior to 4.0, type I for Ignore rather than F for Fail.

Hey planit,

You must use ref tool 2.0.1 if it is a gx 520, 2.0.2 is only for gx740.

All the best
