Has anyone come across Minolta Dealers selling KIP 3000's yet. (How many of these units that KIP dealers are waiting for have gone to Minolta?) Here is the Minolta link for the 3000.

Old news. KIP has been sleeping in the Konica Minolta bed for a while now. It's kinda like they are married, because they are surely not getting any from this relationship. It started with the 2000. Now they are trying to get back into the bed with the 3000. Kip better be taking it's Viagara for this one to work. Lots of eggs in one basket.

Don't know about other markets, but we have lost a second sale this week to a Minolta dealer. Our KIP rep. says they are authorized to sell any KIP machine. I also found out Minolta dealers are getting the same pricing as KIP dealers, but they are giving the equipment away like segment 1 copiers. ($13,600 fully loaded for 3000.)

They won't last long if they are doing that. I am sure they are relying on the top notch tech support from KIP. Man, are they in for a rude awakening. They are dropping like flies in the K Mart camp and they are not replacing anyone. Is this management or utter neglect?

10% over your cost, but probably not 10% over theirs. K-M is likely getting a much better price on 3K's than the rest of us considering their purchasing power.

The 1 year Free Service is a little disturbing. That is a path nobody wants to go down, unless you are including it in the lease, or inflating the price of toner.

K-M, like any copier company, has high turnover among its sales people and most use high pressure sales tactics that most customers find offensive. However, when all else fails, they will drop price to close fast.

Bloody their nose a few times, and they will lose interest quickly enough.
The answer is simple, DON"T LOSE, for any reason. They will tire of it quickly enough.

We knew this from the start but we have the ace in the hole. We are the Minolta Dealer also. I was told from one of the support guys at kip that there are not doing the support. The deal is minolta is going to do the support. Now the Minolta dealer are up the creek. I know from try to get support from Minolta. Just set back guys soon the people will be calling for repair . Just like where we have lost some big sales where there buying from a print shop on that special price when they need help we will not give them any breaks.Just rip them a new one. Cool

KIP has elected to go with a scorched earth marketing plan. Authorize anybody who can fog a mirror, customer satisfaction and support be damned!

KIP Dealers who have been loyal to KIP need an edge. A multi unit price break, say for 10 units, would be a step in the right direction. We don't want something for nothing, but we are going to be there when the K-M thing inevitably peters out.

K-M has been selling Kip for years. The average copier salesrep won't touch a wide format. Why? I'm not sure, but in the past it's been to much work for the buck. The knowledge needed from say a business or political science major is way more than they can handle for what they see as rewards. The 3000 has opened a few more doors in this area. But volume discount won't help. K-M orders 100 or more at a time. Look at the Staples contract with Kyocera 600+ units with a stroke of the pen. Dealers can't do that without Kip's support. What dealer can handle 600 different locations throughout the USA. An order like that would need Kip to spread the service and commission to dealers in each area. But in the past Kip won't, they want to keep the commissions and the service work for themselves. Even if it means having their techs drive all day to catch a call. K-M and al the other copier companies share the profits with the dealers in the area. Kip hasn't learned that yet.
