I am getting a very high pitched squeal from a KIP3100. It does it on warm up and during printing. It is not in the fuser section because it does not squeal when it's only the fuser section running. As soon as the dev. unit/paper path gears and rollers move, does it start squealing. One thing that might help is that, now, when the drive belts start or stop, you can hear the creak of a gear or belt as if it's under alot of stress, but I've undone the tensioners and it still seems to creak before moving or stopping.

Does it sound like,"I'm gonna make you squeal like a pig boy"?

The printer sure is squealing like one...lol.

I"m pretty sure it's in the dev. unit. Most likely the rubber cleaning blade, I took the dev. unit out and spun it and the squeal is there. I did the same thing to my in-house 3100 and there is no squeal. I'm gonna go swap dev. units so they can print and then bring their's back to diagnose. Unless, I swap the dev. units and the printer still squeals.

I've fought a couple of those with squeals and squeaks that ended up being the idler rollers under the developer unit that feed the paper. Once I removed them, cleaned the bushing and shafts the noise has always been gone after. Sometimes if you just open the clamshell and try to spin them from the inside you can hear them making noise.
Visions of Ned Beatty running through my head and it isn't pretty...lol.
