I'm a bit of a newbie on KIP machines (although I cut my teeth on those Norwegian plotters that sound like the first two words of the Star Spangled Banner), so please bear with me if I'm asking a dumb question:
I have a 6000 that keeps erroring out. On the printer, it shows E-512. Yet on the controller, it shows E-031 and E-034. Should I be diagnosing this machine based on the printer's code or on the controller's code? |

Check your Trans/Sep Wires to make sure thay are clean. Also I would check your contacts on the side plate of the process unit. Hope this starts you in the right direction. |

It is definitely a corona error code, typically cleaning the corona housings, replace the wires with new wires and new springs solves the problem, every now and then the corona end blocks can arc through and need to be changed. |

If the blocks have any white areas under the cover junk them. _________________ Regards,

Here are the things I have tried so far:
"Disconnected" CN302 pin 7 to get rid of the transfer FB signal. This gets rid of the error, but I'm only getting the first 2/3 of the first print; all subsequent prints in a job come out blank (there is a very faint image on these prints, which comes from physical contact with the image on the drum).
Replaced transfer corona wire with a fresh-out-of-the-package new one. Same result.
I looked at the end blocks, and there doesn't seem to be any apparent evidence of arcing (scorch marks, melted plastic)
Side contacts seem to be set correctly on the process unit.
I have <i>not</i>, however, replaced the two separation wires. My assumption (I know, never assume!) was that the E-512 error pointed to the transfer corona <i>only</i>. Is it possible that <i>all</i> corona wires will need to be addressed? |

If one needs to be replaced, do them all, with the springs. And it doesn't take much contamination to cause an arc. Lot of people skip the springs and get away with it but down the road it causes issues. _________________ Regards,

I have "painted" the end blocks with finger nail polish if in a bind, waiting on new ones.
And Mark is right on the springs. |

Bill, which of your polish colors seem to work the best? _________________ Regards,

Depends on several things. Time of day, lighting and other things.
Usually clear works the best though. |

I use pink. That way it matches my nails.
Customers always comment on how good it looks. |

* facepalm *
How the heck did this dissolve into a discussion on nail polish?
I made sure to thoroughly clean <b>ALL</b> the wires in the T/S unit this morning. TA-DAH! Printing!!
Thanks to everyone who gave their input (even the manicurists!). Your advice was very helpful. |

Yeah, welcome but watch out for cjwilt. Least likely to focus on the current topic. _________________ Regards,
