I went on a call on this customers machine where they were getting the E9 exposure lamp code.
I am not very familiar with this model, as I did not start working on these until only a few years ago.
The lamp was not turning on at all so I took it to another customers office that had one and tested it. The lamp works fine. So back to my problem machine I went. I followed the leads from the lamp back to the board they attach to and found that there was a fuse blown on it. this fuse is a 1A 250v fuse. I went to the hardware store and purchased said fuse and tried it. This new fuse also blew. I looked in my bag and despite the message on the board that says: "use only proper rated fuses to avoid risk of fire" I pulled out a 3A 250V fuse because it was the only one I had. I thought I would try it fast to see if it would fix the issue. Bad Idea, The board popped and smoked for a sec before I could turn it off. It seems only one circuit was damaged, but I do not know how much damage was really done. Machine still powers on warms up then throws the E9 code so your guess is as good as mine.
Is anyone able to help me with this mess?
I realize I may need one or two boards at this point because of my carelessness. but what would cause the machine to start blowing those fuses in the first place, and do you think I have ruined the board that these fuses are on by using the 3Amp fuse?

| Had an issue years ago and if my brain serves me correctly it was one of the lamp connectors. Pm me if you need any boards or parts. I have more than 1 of everything. |

A 3 amp fuse isn't bad......we used a 1/4 20 screw to find the bad board when we didn't have any fuses in Vietnam. Then all you had to do was follow the smoke. When I think about it, it still amazes me that we were able to get anything to fly over there.......
