Scan to file is not included. Scanner and software sold separately. Initial reviews of the machine from people I've spoken with:
tech side: much easier install and easier to work on than the 80
sales side: lack of a cost effective, durable media is a deal killer. The poly fusion stuff is way too expensive, and while it does resist initial tears, once it does get a nick in it, it's done.
The speed is impressive, and the quality is acceptable, but when you're asking the customer to spend this kind of money...

Thanx Bobby, very informative. Until the economy improves I suspect there are few business' able to justify the cost. You think it's robust enough for a print for pay installation? _________________ Regards,

So did anyone make it to one of the kickoffs for this product? Our sales manager went to Irvine to see it and was quite impressed. From what he said the machine is virtually a 7900 when it comes to black printing, it can be used as a black printer without using color supplies. |

It is true that it does not run the color drums when printing monochrome and also runs as 120mm. |

If the question is whether the machine can handle the volume Mark, then the answer is yes, from what I saw, I wouldn't be scared of running this puppy hard. Of course, only way to know for sure is to find a customer willing to be the guinea pig.
MB...yes, it is true that it does not use the color drums for mono. Down side is if you are printing mixed sets. Delays the print process to reposition the drums. If I remember right, it was 20-30 secs each time it switched.

I have my first c7800 machine. Don't get too jealous.
summary: Kip have given you all you have asked for!
A machine made that is faster, better print quality , monochrome option and of-course cheap!
Heavy paper and extra gloss prints at 60mm sec
plain colour 100mm sec
monochrome 120mm sec
The machine has a built in high spec IPS unit that seems to work very fast.
7.4 software ie. print net , kip print , kip rip, new GUI with new feature and new features in service mode.
Improvements in the self calibration are great, as it uses a transfer belt no media is wasted in set up etc . four sensors across the width are used so no more drifting registrations.
The weight is over 200kg less than the Kc80.
It now takes one day for set up, but two people recommended.
I must go back to one word though! cheap!
the 200 kg different from the Kc80 is noticed. All panels have very thin metal and are easy to damage. Paper path very fragile etc
Plus side: the red has improved. Glossing the toner by extra heat and lowering the speed is great. Speed is awesome! Set up and calibrations Awesome! GUI is easy to use and has many new useful features. Paper loading improved. Monochrome prints are perfect , no more transfer separation coronas , awesome Grey scales and hatching's etc .
over all i think this will be a good machine. It will be great for a print shop requiring some good color prints as well as a great quality mid volume monochrome printer.
Anyone else seen one or using one yet? _________________ I used to have hair!!! |

The only way it has scan to file is if you buy a scanner with it, or have an existing scanner with a scan to file keycode. |
