Does anybody have any ideas where I should be looking for this issue? The printer prints great on bond paper but when we put the mylar in it starts to ghost down the page and leaves a line across the page half way down. We just replace all of the wires in the unit. I am leaning towards the cleaning blade.

Not being trained on this printer a couple questions come to mind. Does this printer use fuser rolls? If it does consider fuser temperature or fuser roll coating worn. Since it prints fine on bond that's where I would start. Can you crash it with paper on the drum and in the fuser? That would show you where to start.....

What is the mileage on this machine. Consider checking the oil roller in the fuser. It's rated for about 40000 liner feet. If you are good a out replacing the oil roller then you should get a lot of life out of the hot roller. About 200000 liner feet or so. The cleaning blade is also rated for 40000 liner feet. So that may be your issue.

I remember xerox having print quality issues from the light from the erase lamps passing through the transpart vellum and film and reflecting off off the corona relector back onto the drum...they started coating thier "cortron " corona assyies with a dark gray coating to cut the reflection for this reason....I have to say on all the ricoh 240's I had and the ones I provided tech support on I never recall anyone actually running film in them so I cant comment except to say the slightest light leak on those already weakly designed drums and you would get gray background so..... also check the mylar guide strip that sticks up on the lower corona for wear.... those caused me some headaches...

Are you adjusting the fuser temp for mylar when you print on mylar?
