Customer had a paper jam in feed area. When they cleared the jam, a sensor actuator fell out with the paper. We replaced it on the P4 sensor. This did away with the J1 code we were getting but machine started showing a J2 code which, according to documentation, was a problem with the P6 sensor just before the U-turn area. We replaced it. After reassembling machine, we powered it up, everything looked fine but the fuser motor never actuated. Niether did the fan. The heater stayed lit for a few minutes and then it went out and would not come back on. We thought it had possibly blown the thermistor, thermostat, or SSR. I checked the old thermostat and thermistor with an ohm meter and they both showed open. We replaced all of these but did no good. Talked to Michael on Monday and he suggested that we make sure all voltages are present. When we went back after Christmas we powered the machine up, heater came on for a couple of minutes. Again, fuser motor and fan did not start. Bulb went out and will not come back up. We tried a new power relay but did no good. Fuser motor will work in service mode but heat lamp will not. Checked lamp for resistance and ohm meter showed 0 ohms. Not sure if getting 24volts to bulb but we have checked so many voltages I can't really remember. The SSR is receiving 24 volts. When lamp did come on, after it went out it did not declare any fault codes. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Check the brightness of the lamp when it comes on. It may not be able to heat up enough before it times out!

On the right side of the machine behind the cover the is a line of connectors. 5-6 I think. Not sure how you replaced the sensors but if
un-hooked these connectors. The are two small white connectors each with two wires. If you reverse these two connectors the fuser wil not heat up. Generally they will blow the thermostat, but not always. Also if you unhooked the wires on the SSR make sure that you plugged them back in correctly. Good luck.

Hey all. Thanks for your suggestions. We did get the machine up and running however, it is making foggy copies. There is a toner halo around the letters and where a letter has an opening such as a capital A or B, etc., the openings are grey. Also there is a light gray background throughout. This machine was hit with a power surge when power was restored after our big ice storm a couple of months ago. Any suggestions on copy quality issue. Have checked the mag roller, erase lamps, exposure, doc. glass, developer bias, toner density. All changes that were made had no effect on copies. Did not lighten or darken. Also tried new drum. HELP.
