That is probably true. I believe KIP added rolling sensors on later models to address that problem.

We are also plagued with the dry climate issues. You can try this product. Seems to do a good job when the static builds up.

If the paper is not a taped core it can slip when the paper gets low. This will cause the machine to make you change the roll.

I would only recommend vacuuming it.

You can rub it to help break some of the toner free. Just be careful not to damage it.
