Update - I was able to twist some arms at KIP to get them to send this part. I think they pulled it from one of there printers.

i will check it out next time I am there. It is better but on heavy lines and text it still does it a little.

I have seen 3000's loose the codes when the printer is not turned off correctly or the power goes out.
